The xShare project is setting the stage for a transformative approach to health data sharing in the European Health Data Space (EHDS). With the vision of enabling seamless sharing of health data in the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EEHRxF) at the click of a button – the xShare Yellow Button, xShare can be considered a cornerstone for accelerating digital health innovation.
During the first year of the project, we have made remarkable progress, combining innovation, collaboration, and focus on standards. The following was achieved since November 2023:
- Creating a minimum data set aligned with the International Patient Summary (IPS-R), ensures that the right data can flow seamlessly across borders, laying the groundwork for continuity of care, clinical research, and population health improvements.
- The “EHRxF in a Nutshell” document makes it easier for stakeholders to understand and adopt the standards at the heart of EEHRxF.
- Bringing together industry leaders, regulators, and policymakers, xShare established an Industry Forum and a Regulators Forum. These serve as platforms for vital dialogue, aligning diverse perspectives and fostering collaboration to advance the adoption of EEHRxF standards.
- The 4 X-Bundle retreats organised by the project brought together multidisciplinary teams to explore cutting-edge solutions, refine standards, and address challenges in health data sharing. These retreats became incubators for new ideas, driving forward xShare’s mission to prepare the digital health community for accelerated EHDS adoption.
Moreover, xShare has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the XpanDH project for the handover of its results. The purpose of this MoU is to record formally the mutual interest of exploring the results of XpanDH for the purposes of the xShare project, which is willing to serve as an exploitation pathway for the XpanDH project results, considering theEEHRxF Standards and Policy Hub in formation incubated by the xShare project!
This partnership underscores our shared vision of enhancing health data interoperability, empowering communities of doers and co-creators, and driving impactful solutions for citizens,healthcare providers, and policymakers.
In just one year, xShare has demonstrated what is possible when vision meets action. From establishing foundational data sets to creating spaces for collaboration and launching awareness campaigns, the project is making the European Health Data Space a reality.
