The xShare Industry Label is a voluntary certification that helps digital health companies demonstrate their readiness for European standards on interoperability, data sharing, and data portability.

It provides a structured pathway for organisations to demonstrate technical readiness, support cross-border data exchange, and align early with upcoming EU regulations on health data.

Semantic interoperability ensures that health data can be exchanged with a shared and consistent meaning across systems, enabling better care, research, and decision-making.

However, fragmented standards and inconsistent data interpretation remain key challenges, highlighting the need for stronger alignment to improve data quality, usability, and outcomes across the health ecosystem.

The EHDS has come into force and the deadlines for implementation acts are approaching, Clarity on scope, obligations, and implementation options is needed to meet these deadlines.

This article examines ways to accelerate EEHRxF adoption, including hybrid implementation models, and coordinated national and EU-level support.

To identify current and prospective useful use cases for Public Health (PH), it is important to understand if and how the different European states are getting ready for the implementation of the EHDS and the main existing challenges. To collect this information, we analysed the available literature and launched a survey exploring the current state of consolidation of PH datasets, the standards used, the associated workflows and the possible prospective use cases. We also identified and studied four countries that represent the best “only once” practice examples in Europe.

Madeira’s aim in this project is to bring healthcare professionals and citizens closer, equipping health institutions with innovative, interoperable, and intelligent solutions that enhance the delivery of care.  

By integrating the xShare Yellow button, patients will gain seamless access to their health information, while interoperability between healthcare providers is assured, fostering a single, secure, and standardized digital health market across Europe.

The Irish Adoption Site is a joint national partnership between the Department of Health (DoH) and the Health Service Executive (HSE). The DoH is responsible for the development of health strategy and the HSE is responsible for the implementation and operations of this health strategy.

As an adoption site for the X-Share project, Fondazione Monasterio aims to leverage its expertise in managing complex clinical data and its advanced IT infrastructure to contribute to the development and implementation of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). Monasterio’s vision aligns with xShare’s goal of empowering individuals through better access and control over their health data, facilitating research, and improving healthcare quality.

This video discusses the pilot implementation of the xShare Yellow Button — a digital health tool integrated into FTGM patient portal in Italy. This initiative represents a significant step toward advancing digital health maturity by enabling patients to access and share their health information electronically, moving beyond traditional paper-based documentation.

Care plans provide an overview of the patient’s illness and key values that are significant for treatment and monitoring. The Care plan module can be used as a dialogue tool with the possibility of supporting the patient’s self-care and agreeing goals for the individual patient. Patients’ care plans can be shared with healthcare professionals at hospitals and municipalities via the national eHealth infrastructure, which contributes to coherent and coordinated patient care.
